Bring your own device (BYOD) has been a great way of allowing students the flexibility to interact and learn using any device that is available to them. This is great right?

Yes it is. However, from the developers point of view this means design and development must take place for multiple devices, brands and screen sizes, and that makes it almost impossible to conduct thorough testing on every device. It could take so long during the testing process that the content you’re testing for could become out of date.

Therefore, the child that BYOD has given birth to, and is driven from design and developers, is CYOD (choose your own device). CYOD offers a narrower selection of mobile learning devices for the student, making testing much easier from the design and developers perspective, but still ensures technology is at the heart of modern day interactive digital learning.
